Laboratory Training
Testing of Unknown Solids
Unknown solids and deposits can cause severe process problems and often result in process downtime. It is often expected that the chemist should be able to tell exactly what deposits are, their probable cause and more importantly how they can be removed.
Because very few chemists receive any formalised training, this half day modular course provides training in a number of basic tests that may be performed to give an insight into the possible composition of unknown solids, debris and deposits.
By their very nature, whilst many unknown solids look relatively inert, they can be radioactive, contain pyrophoric scale or have a very low flashpoint. Therefore a formalised training course shall provide chemists with additional analytical capability and improve operational safety.
